FOOT AND SHOE FETISH Shoes and footwear have come a long way since the concept of the right and left shoe in "Western" society began around the middle of the 19th century during a time of mass production in human oriented products and a transition from rural to urban migrations. All societies have unique approaches to the use and wearing of footwear. This international approach to footwear has exploded. The introduction of the ubiquitous "flip flop" and the “so called” sport shoe that has enhanced the public choice of so many in this age. We are all strongly affected by the conduct, role, look, problems, and function of the feet. It is perhaps no secret that today they are one of the most effective means of attraction through a choice of colors, patterns, styles, and function. Perhaps the shoe and the effect on the foot can say so much about the history of what people have done, good or bad, to their feet. Shoes are the requirement and delight of people all over the world. Try walking around anywhere outside of living at the beach and you will observe a wide variety of shoe use. My interest in shoes must come from my astrological sign Pisces that is believed to be ruled by the feet. Though men are included, women are especially attracted to shoes. The number of pairs of shoes for women will usually exceed those for men by a significant margin. Outside of the exploitation of the Philippine public funds by Imelda Marcos in the 1980's, I could sympathize with her collection of over 1000 pairs of shoes. The number of choices for women's shoes far outweigh the choices for men. I am impressed by the beauty of hands and feet that bear a strong resemblance in each of us. Manicures and particularly pedicures are enjoying an all-time high in the business of maintenance. The renaissance in shoes and particularly sandals for men and women has brought about a renewed interest in the beauty of the feet and the need to show them off. I am including pictures here that show a few examples of the beauty of feet and shoes of men and women. I sometimes, in a joking manner must respond with: "Am I the only one noticing all this attention to the feet? Certainly Not."
